Just this week I got in touch with Max from Dream But Do Not Sleep and had a little chat regarding their very exciting relatively new brand. Hit the jump to have a read.
(MN) Firstly can you just tell us a little bit about yourself Max?
(Max) I'm the founder of the brand. I'm 20 years old and from England. I left college after completing my A-levels and decided to set up a clothing brand in March 2012 with the intention of designing clothing with bold prints that was in line with current street wear fashion trends.
I saw the expression 'dream but do not sleep' spray painted on a concrete motorway bridge in France and it stuck ever since.
(MN) You're designs are very established considering you've only been going just over one year, very impressive. I really like the name but where did it come from?
(Max) I saw the expression 'dream but do not sleep' spray painted on a concrete motorway bridge in France and it stuck ever since. I screen printed a few Ts at college with it on, and then when I decided to start a clothing brand, it felt like the right name for the brand.
(MN) Is there anything out there that inspires your collections, or any favourite brands/designers?
(Max) What really inspires me are the brands bold enough to do something a bit different. All the colourful 90s revival clothing is a big inspiration at the moment, especially the prominent patterns, fabrics, and geometric ornament.
I hope the brand will be available in a variety of respected street-wear outlets throughout the UK and internationally
(MN) You can certainly see that coming through in your collections. It's a very bold approach to today's street-wear. Where do you hope to get your brand in 5 years time?
(Max) I hope the brand will be available in a variety of respected street-wear outlets throughout the UK and internationally, as well as having a strong following of loyal customers who understand and appreciate the brand for what it stands for.
(MN) It's been a pleasure speaking to you Max, I love the brand, and can see massive things for you in the future. Have you got any plans for new collections coming soon?
(Max) I'm working on the Autumn/Winter 2013 range as well as the spring/summer 2014 range. Expect lots of vibrant tropical fabrics applied to new and existing products.
As I said to Max in the interview, I believe his brand is set to have a huge future, and he should expect to meet his 5 year plan. Max also sent over a few pictures of his Summer 2013 collection, its looking very good, check it out below. Once you've done that, get over to the Dream But Do Not Sleep Online Store to get your hands on some of his pieces, and be sure to give him a like on Facebook and a follow on Twitter.
