Kicks: New Balance ML999 "Globally Wanted"

New Balance MT580 CM1600 ML999 Wanted Pack 05 570x449 New Balance MT580, CM1600 + ML999 Wanted Pack

Earlier this month we seen a blog post from Anth regarding the "Globally Wanted" pack, otherwise known as the "Mug Shot" pack containing models 1600 and 580. Now the pack is out and live, we have been able to take a closer look into the pack, and not just look at pictures from sneaker sites and blogs such as Freshness Mag, from this we learn the name "Globally Wanted" comes from the inspiration for the pack being old wanted posters, which I assume it is not posters we see in Old West films, and will be more modern, which we usually see in gangster films as such.

The theme of wanted posters runs throughout the whole pack, and not just the ML999, which includes the colour scheme, being a mix of Grey/Black, Grey/Grey and Black/Grey (see MT580 & CM1600 for details of the other models), which although very simple, is a very effective scheme. Although the ML999 is not my favourite of the pack, it is a shoe I have been waiting to release again in a simple and plain block colouring, which we have got here in a very stripped back Grey/Grey colouring, with a mix of perforated suede, regular suede, leather with a textile lining and what I am led to believe is the infamous 3M around the cornering of the toe box and ankle area. The theme of wanted posters carries on onto the inside of the tongue tab with sort of a profiling of the shoe including the shoes height, as would be in the profile notes of a criminal. We even have sort of a height chart on the insole which would be seen on wanted posters, which in my eyes is what makes this pack, and for this case the ML999 as good as it is, as I am a sucker for the little details.

What also shocks me,is that this - to our knowledge - is not a collaboration. The materials are top notch, but then again we all know what quality we are getting with a New Balance shoe, wether it be UK, USA or Asia made. The full pack is now available at Size? online and in store.
